    Questions.

Can you use ChatGPT to write meeting reports or minutes?+

Yes, for formatting and summarising text you already have. Paste your notes or a transcript and ChatGPT turns them into a report, a summary or a list of action points. What it doesn't do is record the conversation, so it never hears what was said.

Can ChatGPT record a meeting or conversation?+

Not the regular ChatGPT chat. Since 2025 the macOS desktop app has had a separate recording feature (Record) on the paid plans (Plus and above), which does listen in and transcribe. The feature isn't available in the browser, on Windows or on your phone.

Can ChatGPT transcribe an audio file?+

Yes, through an upload or the recording feature, but with limitations. There's a cap on file size, there are no reliable speaker labels, and quality drops on long or messy recordings. If transcription is all you need, read the page on transcribing a conversation.

Does ChatGPT make things up in a report?+

Yes, especially when your input is thin. It then fills the gaps with details that sound convincing but were never said. With a complete transcript and the explicit instruction not to invent anything, it happens far less.

What's a good prompt for taking minutes with ChatGPT?+

Give ChatGPT the complete text, ask for a fixed structure with the decisions and action points, and say explicitly that it must not invent anything and should leave gaps empty. The more complete your source, the more reliable the outcome.

Can I paste a confidential conversation into ChatGPT for a report?+

Better not, in the consumer version: there's no data processing agreement and your input can be used for training. The full answer, consumer versus business, is on is ChatGPT GDPR compliant.

Is ChatGPT reliable enough for an official report?+

As a draft, yes; as the final version, not without a check. ChatGPT delivers a perfectly decent first version, but you remain responsible for what's in it. Always check the decisions and names against your source.

What's a better alternative to ChatGPT for reports of conversations?+

A tool that combines recording, transcribing and summarising, and processes everything in the EU. The report then comes from the real conversation instead of from your notes, and there are no gaps to check. Notuly is that kind of tool for capturing conversations.

Does ChatGPT really save time on writing reports?+

For formatting existing text, certainly. If your input was thin, part of the time you saved goes straight back into checking, because you then have to work out what ChatGPT filled in on its own.

Does Notuly work for online and hybrid meetings too?+

Yes. The desktop app for macOS and Windows takes the notes straight from your laptop, in Teams, Zoom and Google Meet. In the room, your phone on the table is enough, and hybrid works with a single recording for the whole group. Available on macOS, Windows, iOS and Android.

What does Notuly cost alongside ChatGPT?+

The ChatGPT chat is free to use; the Record feature requires a paid plan. Notuly Starter is free: three conversations a month, no payment details needed. Pro is €9.99 per month billed yearly (€13.49 monthly).

Where does Notuly process my conversation?+

On its own servers in Amsterdam, with its own AI model. Your data never leaves the EU, the audio is deleted within a minute of processing, and your conversations are not used as training data. A data processing agreement is available on Team and above.

How do I switch from ChatGPT to Notuly?+

There's nothing to migrate: Notuly keeps no archive, so you bring nothing over and leave nothing behind. Create an account, download the app and record your first conversation. Three conversations free, no payment details needed.

Can ChatGPT and Notuly sit side by side?+

Yes, they do different things. Notuly captures the conversation itself and delivers the report to everyone's inbox; ChatGPT is there for rewriting text that contains no personal data. They work independently of each other.

ChatGPT for meeting notes in short: for organising and summarising text you already have, ChatGPT is a good choice; paste your notes or transcript and it produces a tidy report. It doesn't record your conversation, doesn't recognise who said what, and can fill gaps by itself when input is thin; confidential content doesn't belong in the free version. Notuly captures the conversation itself, in-person, hybrid and online, processes it on Dutch servers in Amsterdam, deletes the audio within a minute of processing and keeps no copy. Starter is free with three conversations a month; Pro is €9.99 per month billed yearly.
